Transition to Adulthood
Many parents find themselves not sure about “what comes next”. After a child ages out of school programs, what then? All individuals with disabilities are different, and their levels of independence will vary.
Will your child continue with job training or post secondary education? Will he/she work through a local agency, or strike out on their own to find employment? To what extent will he/she be involved in the community? Recreation? Hobbies?
Remember to always help your child as they strive to be as independent as is appropriate. All individuals, regardless of disabilities, deserve to live a fulfilling life, where they have some control over their decisions.
